When buying, you should make sure that they are not sprayed. Pears should not be bought too ripe. They should give in only slightly at the touch of a finger. The ripeness can also be determined by the color: If a pear brightens, it is already very ripe. If you buy a large quantity, you should store most of it in the fridge and only put the need for the next one to two days in the fruit bowl. This can prevent too many ripe fruits.
