Fresh and dried plums are known for their laxative effect. Fresh plums also have a diuretic effect. They are good for constipation, arteriosclerosis and rheumatic diseases.
Dried plums support liver function. Due to their high fiber content of around five grams per 100 grams, they help to lower cholesterol levels. They also contain anti-cancer substances. Their sugar content is around ten percent. In addition to carbohydrates and fiber, they contain a particularly high amount of malic acid and plenty of provitamin A and almost all B vitamins.
